Goals

  • Provide a safe baseball environment for our community.
  • Follow State, County & City Covid-19 recommendations.
  • Limit person to person contact.
  • Prevent equipment contamination.
  • Prevent facility contamination.
  • Personal Health Awareness.

Summary of Protocol

  • Ongoing health screening for all participants
  • Utilizing only outdoor areas (no dugouts) for activities
  • Practicing physical distancing (6 feet apart) and utilizing face coverings when physical distancing is not maintained.
  • Practicing hand hygiene (hand gel or hand washing) before and after practices and water breaks.
  • Avoiding sharing equipment and disinfection of shared equipment between users.
  • Education of participants regarding avoiding spread of respiratory illnesses.

Health screening

We will use the following list to screen for Covid-19 on an ongoing basis:

  • Contact with someone known to have Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
  • Fever >100 at any time over past 2 days
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Headache
  • Runny or congestion not associated with allergies.
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Unexplained fatigue

We will request that any participant who has any of the above personally or in their household will contact their healthcare provider. They will not be allowed to return to SLL events until cleared to do so by their healthcare provider. The Safety officer/designee will be the manage these situations and communicate as required with county health officer.

 

 

Manager responsibilities:

  • Screen players at all events - designate adult screener
  • Promote safety at all events
  • Report any players who do not pass screening to the safety officer/designee.
  • The Safety Officer will communicate with county health department as needed.

Parent responsibilities:

  • Monitor their player for covid-19 screening questions and player’s temperature to verify safe participation.
  • Hold players out of activities if positive screening conditions emerge.
  • Report any positive screening conditions to manager.

Physical Distancing:

  • Players and coaches will be at least 6 feet apart or have appropriate face coverings when unable to maintain that physical distance.
  • Small groups will be used when possible to maximize potential for distancing.
  • Parents and visitors must remain off the field.
  • Nobody will be allowed to use drinking fountains. All players must bring their own water bottle.

Hand Hygiene:

  • Players and coaches will clean hands with gel or soap/water before and after practices and breaks.
  • Players will be taught about avoiding touching their face and face coverings without clean hands.

Equipment Management:

  • Players will be required to bring their own gloves and encouraged to bring their own bats and batting helmets.
  • Catcher’s gear will be disinfected between users.
  • Any other shared equipment will be disinfected between users.
  • Balls will be disinfected with Lysol spray or quarantined between practices.
  • No sharing of water bottles will be permitted.
